About this Project

Our client purchased their dream home in the Boise Foothills knowing the backyard needed a makeover. The sloped lot had immense potential; it also had retaining walls in disrepair, overgrown garden beds, and areas of the yard that were inaccessible due to poor upkeep. They wanted accessibility between the north and south sides of the yard, a space where their young children could safely explore and create adventures, and a plan that would evolve with their needs over time. Perhaps most importantly, the home’s architecture was stunning – and the client wanted landscape design elements to complement the surrounding area with something that would elicit feelings of playfulness and restoration for them and their guests.

Terravita’s team created a plan to preserve the client’s fruit trees and shade trees while using creative solutions to incorporate hardscape and softscape elements that shaped pathways, opened up views of Boise’s foothills and the downtown areas, and blended native plants and shrubs to complement the home’s architecture and color palette.
