Our History

Our roots in Boise extend back to the 1950s when one of our founders went to work for Union Farm and Garden. While there he met Don Dick, founder of Boise’s preeminent personal gardening radio show, The Garden Spot. As a local source for all things personal gardening, including tree pruning, mowing, trimming, and ornamental tree care, the Union Farm and Garden’s team constantly fielded questions from homeowners looking to further their understanding of how trees, plants, and grasses respond to pruning techniques and the Treasure Valley’s unique soil characteristics. Little did we know at the time how much that experience would influence Terravita’s approach to caring for others’ yards and gardens.

Terravita’s core values of being humble, trustworthy, and cultivating an environment of mutual respect with employees and Boise homeowners can be traced back to our deep roots in the Treasure Valley. Our unwavering commitment to client satisfaction has been heavily influenced by our early days renting space in a flower shop off 36^th and Hill Road, our love of learning, and our desire to help Boise homeowners make their outdoor spaces more playful, accessible, and purposeful.
